Felipe from i2Tecnologia created a Java Packaging tool for Flash Lite developers, Jarpa. It mean that you can package your Flash Lite content into a Jar file for distribution. Is been tested on S60 3rd and S40 5th and it works great. Now we need more testing on other S40 platfroms and other OEM.

The Jarpa project is open source so anyone can contribute.

Here is a example of Flash Lite content embeddedin a mobile site. The banner is done in Flash Lite 1.1, while the Flickr loaded uses Flash Lite 2.0 and the SWX framework to load images from my Flickr account. I created this demo for the Adobe MAX 2007 conference in Chicago. Not many people know that you can view Flash Lite content using the S60 Browser.
The quality of the video isn't great, but you get the concept!
The idea is that creating Flash Lite content for a mobile site is possible, you will need to detect if the phone supports Flash Lite and which version and for this WURFL is the tool since now Flash Lite capabilities are included!!
More details about this demo here.

The Boston Adobe Mobile and Devices User Group is holding an eSeminar on November 9th at 12 PM EST (check your local time), Spaghetti Sort presents Janus.
Spaghetti Sort is the producer of the ultimate tool for the Flash/Flex desktop application & mobile developer.
Janus is the tool of your choice.
Why fiddling around with different tools when you can simply have one? If you are a Flash/Flex developer, you can take your ideas to the next dimension, taking the expressiveness of the Flash platform to a Windows desktop application, inside a Windows Mobile PDA or inside a Symbian cellphone. Janus is not simply a “wrapper”, an “exe-generator”, a “swf2exe” that takes your swf and create an executable file, Janus allows you to use extra functions not available to Flash/Flex to crash the limit and increase the sheer power at your disposal. Janus adds an industry leading 2000+ methods/properties to your ActionScript code following pure ActionScript syntax.
This seminar will show how you can build sis files for Symbian platform and cab files for the Pocket pc devices starting from simple swf files. Also, we’ll be showing how you can extend flash capabilities using the industry leading Janus Engine to do more from your actionscript code.
Please join the Boston Adobe Mobile and Device User Group to participate to the eSeminar and be part of the User Group. Anyone interested in Flash Lite development is welcome from anywhere in the world. When you apply tell us something about yourself.

I finally got my Flash Lite 3 developer edition and I created a sample application showing the different Flash Video capabilities. What I wanted to test are the following scenarios:
These scenario cannot be done with Flash Lite 2.x since it use the device video player for playback device video. Now with Flash Lite 3 there is one more capability for video playback. The Flash Lite 3 player contains the Flash Video codec.
Flash Lite 3 enabled phone should be available in Q1 2008, those handsets will have Flash Lite 3 browser capability too.
