Here is a series of blog exhange that I've found interesting. Let me put the timeline here.
Mr. Jason Calacanis, an entrepreneur and CEO of Mahalo, has posted a blog entry on tips to save money in a startup.
http://www.calacanis.com/2008/03/07/how-to-save-money-running-a-startup-17-really-good-tips/
Now there are some "interestng" tips and really take the saving money concept to the next level. A lot of Silicon Valley companies are probably doing these activities to thier employees. Though I don't know if all companies are doing these because of the same reason, saving moving. I would have thought many companies do these things because of competiting for talented engineers. The post is certainly educational.
Though one tip in the original post may have started a follow-up story from TechCrunch. The particular tip is “Fire people who are not workaholics…. come on folks, this is startup life, it’s not a game. go work at the post office or stabucks if you want balance in your life. For realz.” Mr. Calacanis has later updated this tip to a softer tone...
Any way, here is the TechCrunch reactions:

After the TechCruch's post, Mr. Calacanis has responsed back with another post explains his thoughts:
http://www.calacanis.com/2008/03/07/can-you-have-a-life-and-work-at-a-startup-company/
If I ever start a startup, I think the tips are good reference (with good intentions of course). One of the important things I learn is blogging is really PR work, and it can go either way. "With great power comes great responsbility -Spidy"...
Update 08.03.08 4:49pm The story is still going:
