I need $129...

iPhone SDK is out. I really want to test drive it... First when I heard that you need a Mac to do development, I thought, no problem, I have a MacBook. 
Then when I read the fine prints... I will need 10.5 MacOS (Leopard) to run the SDK, when I am still on 10.4 (Tiger). An Leopard update is $129 currently... I guess I have to suck it up to have a taste of the SDK. Could this be another smart business move to force the Leopard sales?
Any way, it seems like techcrunch has posted an article on limitations of the iPhone SDK. I will just let you read it yourself:

There are some interesting questions in this articles...
Will Apple allow 3rd party application to buy MP3 songs from Amazon?
Can someone writes a mashup application and supplies location data from iPhone to Yahoo FireEagle (Yahoo's location framework)? What about to Google Map?
To be fair, this is the first SDK for their first mobile phone. The features of this "first" SDK is quite well thought out. The video tutorials in iTune U are professionally done.
What can I say... the competition is on! Let's get to work!

No doubt, but that goes for all businesses... to squeeze money out of me... The amazing trick is squeezing money out of you, and you still applause for it... now that is a talent...
I don't see a framework to access the itune library from the sdk. I doubt the DRM content can be accessed at all. Plus, the system ringtone directory is protected, so one cannot write to it officially...

I'm also eager to try out the iPhone SDK and was willing to put down $100 right away. However, forcing users to upgrade to Leopard is a bit of a scam.
It seems to be a bit of a pattern with Apple that they promise great things, but when the hype dies down and you examine the details there are a few nasty surprises. For the ability to only run one application at a time is rediculous (shouldn't all true "smartphones" allow this?).

The fact that iPhone has only one app running most of the time cannot be a surprise for somebody who has been trying the phone for some 5 minutes. Some applications are able to fake being alive by saving and then restoring application's pre-close state. Others fail to do that ... However, for any tasks that would require background processing this single-tasking approach would be a showstopper.

Was there any doubt that Apple will try to squeeze some money out of you? :)
Remember that they are selling you a song twice if you decide to make a ringtone out of it. What if you would create an application that wants to play 30" of a song from your music library, would it play for free?
