Apple as an MVNO

tote_b5 | 10 April, 2008 16:13

Very interesting patent from Apple (thanks to Unwired View), I wonder how it would work in practice.

Generally I can see it's a viable idea, however, also wondering how roaming charges can compete with any networks' own tariff. I understand that there would be a competition between available network operators, however, roaming charges still remain roaming charges.

Ciao Gabor,

interesting!
I think Apple is a Content Network Operator where they have control over what they sell.
I talked about it when the iPhone was announced:

About the MVNO, based on the deals Apple is making with Operators, roaming charges can be removed on iPhone friendly operators!

Yes, but still ...

Hi Alessandro,

I was also thinking about that there would be (serious) discounts on roaming charges, but I think it's obvious that it would be still higher than own tariff. Anyway, let's see how it'll work out!
