Interesting discussion about MIDlet signing

On java.net ME Interest forums there is an interesting discussion about MIDlet signing, which is also mirrored on the KVM Interest mailing list. (Unfortunately the thread is split in a couple of sub threads, so you need to go to the main thread list and look for threads with words "Digital Signature for MIDlet?" in the title to see all of the responses.
Looks like most of the respondents are mostly involved on U.S. market, and here the signing challenges can be maddening to a Java developer for sure (one reason is the additional API restrictions placed by the operators). The situation is better in Europe for example, but I still agree that the situation is not optimal there either.

MIDlet signing may be killing the success of Java ME

MIDlet signing is to certain extent may kill the success of java ME. But then we have to look at the other side as well since java offers better security then others.
Its still confusing since the person who wants to get access services and if its not possible through Java ME then he may switch to some other language. Anyways I dont know much about other languages for mobile development so cant really say anything about it.
