Should I start learning Open C?

hartti | 06 September, 2007 22:03

I just got an email in my inbox about Forum Nokia's Open C Challenge. There seems to be cash prizes totaling more than $20,000 in this competition, which is a mobile application development contest aimed at encouraging open source and freeware developers to use Nokia's Open C as part of their development tools.

I immediately started thinking of participating, which of course would mean that I would need to start learning the Open C. ... Unfortunately I am ineligible as a Nokia employee... (might be a good thing too - as an average coder I might embarrass myself badly and also I might end up sleeping too little during the contest.)
Also the submission deadline is mid-September, so I would not even have any time to get my application ready.. In fact, my colleague noted to me that this is just a reminder of the competition we announced some months ago. Apparently I have had way too many things in my mind which has caused me to forget this altogether. Or then I am just getting too old and too forgetful in general. Oh boy.

Anyway, for those who are still interested. The competition has two categories. Porting an existing application and creating a brand new application. Registration for the contest is here.
