cool_li | 14 March, 2008 05:31

YouTube has opened new APIs to allow more innovative ways to enhance and interact with YouTube content. This includes ways to integrate YouTube videos onto other websites, create desktop applications, video games, mobile devices, televisions, cameras, and more.

You can use the APIs to:

  • Upload videos and video responses to YouTube
  • Add/Edit user and video metadata (titles, descriptions, ratings, comments, favorites, contacts, etc)
  • Get RSS feeds (most viewed, top rated, etc.) for 18 international locales
  • Perform custom queries optimized for 18 international locales
  • Customize player UI and control video playback (pause, play, stop, etc.) through software

Helio has created a way to integrate YouTube with there custom application.

Helio's custom YouTube application allows users to browse tens of millions of videos and includes a full suite of personalization and community features such as:

  • Rate: let everyone know which videos you like best
  • Comment: add your own two cents by posting text comments for everyone to read
  • Share: send favorite videos to friends using address book integration
  • Save: save favorite videos to My Favorites and My Playlists
  • Subscribe: subscribe to a channel to check out more from that user
  • Record and Upload: capture a video on Ocean and instantly upload it to a personal channel; geo-tag video uploads and post video responses
