Accelerinvaders update

lpvalente | 19 June, 2008 15:40

I have released a minor update to Accelerinvaders, at Mosh

Here is what's changed:

  • The game now uses the official Sensor API, which means that it is not required to install/use the RD Accelerometer Plug-in anymore.
  • Minor sensor tweaks.
  • Self-signed the game again with another certificate, because the previous one has expired. It should last for a long time now.

Known supported devices:

  • N82
  • N95
  • N95 8GB

If you don't know the game, here is a video:

 Feedback is welcome Smile

Homebrew multi-touch system

Here's an interesting thing: using the N95 to create a multi-touch system

Another way to interact ...

lpvalente | 09 May, 2008 15:30

Some folks went really creative when it comes to interacting with the phone, and invented a way to use the phone without touching it Surprised

Here is a demo video (I don't know which language they are speaking)

Hey Ma, look! No buttons! - A new Accelerinvaders version

lpvalente | 30 November, 2007 16:36

Hello people,

Today a new version of Accelerinvaders is out (0.4).

What is changed:

  • Auto-fire.
  • Smoother ship movements. If you tilt more, the ship will move faster.
  • Now you can make the ship "jump" by tilting the phone upwards/downwards. Useful for dodging bullets :)
  • A new guy in town, the red UFO.

Here is a preview video:

Yes, it's a 0-button game Smile

The game can be downloaded at MOSH: http://mosh.nokia.com/collection/3746EC195CEE725DE040050AEE041508

I hope you enjoy!

Accelerinvaders - I'm impressed, and news :)

lpvalente | 24 November, 2007 23:00

Hello people,

I'm really impressed with the numbers of Accelerinvaders so far. I did not expect it. It's been less than a week since I had released the first version of the game, and here are some stats (at the moment I visit the page):

  • More than 2800 visits to the game page at MOSH
  • More than 1400 downloads
  • More than 12000 page views for the fan video at YouTube
  • More than 13000 hits for "accelerinvaders" at Google (!!?)

Anyway, it seems people really like Space Invaders, hehe. Let's see what the future holds for accelerometer-enabled games.

In the meanwhile, there's a new video at YouTube for the next version (v0.4) of Accelerinvaders, featuring smoother movements and a new move. Can you guess it ? Here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD3KbHOy7gs

I hope you enjoy!

It seems someone has made a video of Accelerinvaders in action on a N95_8GB! Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlthLrZ7T7A

An "accelerated" game for the N95 :-)

lpvalente | 19 November, 2007 11:22

Hello!

I took a simple Space Invaders clone I wrote, and changed it to use the N95 accelerometer. Here it is:

http://mosh.nokia.com/collection/3746EC195CEE725DE040050AEE041508

Also, this game uses OpenGL ES for graphics (although it is not 3D), and the vibration API. The vibration feature should be enabled in the user profile, so it can work.

The controls are:
shoot: big d-pad button
move ship: move phone: Smile

The game can be played in either portrait or landscape mode (although it does not support changing it dynamically yet). Anyway, I'll refine the movement with the accelerometer near in the future Smile

It's a first try, so your feedback is welcome.

Have fun!

edit (December 1st): new version (v0.4) is out at MOSH.
