An end to the dreaded roaming charges?

coultonp | 17 January, 2007 12:54

Yesterday one of the mobile operators in the UK announced that they have abolished roaming charges for its UK customers when travelling to overseas countries were they have networks. Having been stung by roaming charges on a number of occasions I am hoping that all UK operators will follow suit and we will no longer have to worry about such things when travelling. Given that the vision for mobile is a world network were we can connect anywhere at anytime removing a disincentive to engage in such activities seems highly desirable to me.

hartti Interesting to note that this seems to include data roaming too...

You are correct in that it does include data which as a fairly heavy mobile data user is equally important. I also not the same operator has a tariff that includes slingbox, skype, data, voice and text and we seem to be seeing definate changes in the data offerings available now.
