The advantage of AppTest Lite is that it tests things you cannot test otherwise. In particular it checks whether everything your app has installed is being uninstalled. While this is essentially a test of the installer, and not your app (!), it's nice to have an independent confirmation of your .pkg file being correct.

There are some drawbacks too.

On S60 3rd ed, the stress test only works properly when you execute all commands using the menu.

AppTest cannot handle things that only happen once. For instance, for certain capabilities an app must show a dialog the first time it is run, but not the second time. This makes the stress test fail, as the back button for the dialog is the close app button the second time the app is run, and S60 doesn't have an escape key.

But in the end apptest solves more problems than it creates. It would even be better if it worldn't create problems.
