We would use RDA on Series 40 devices to quickly validate functionality on specific devices e.g platform requests; http transfer; and certificates supported.

Ideally devices should be made available at least as soon as they are listed as available on Nokia.com, or better still ahead of general release.

Re: sim cards - the more the better, and on as many operators networks as possible :) Obviously this also applies to variants as well. So it would be great to have a good coverage of popular devices with clearly labelled firmware / region builds.

At the moment, we spend a lot of time and effort buying devices and testing on them locally to ensure there are no issues.

Just an idea: is it possible to test Nokia 5500's accelerometer in any way? You know, you put that device in the portfolio, but I don't think anybody will use it unless he/she wants to play with the accelerometer. Which is impossible(?) to test.

It might be funny, but I was thinking about a workaround: set vibration on, turn on accelerometer and give a call to the device. Then it must be shaking - at some level. :) On the other hand, I'm not sure if incoming/outgoing calls can be tested at all. That's another very important feature.

RDA is a great service. i've been using it now quite often.

i'd be good if developers can request a specific device for testing.

like i have some clients who have reported that my application is not working on spefic model, then i can make a request for the device, and nokia can put the device on RDA for a day or two, send email to developer to test app. in this time, others can also utilize the device.

once again, a great service and keep adding new devices :)
