What's in Your Wallet? What's a Wallet?

Nokia Ron | 28 April, 2007 01:00

Mobile devices have replaced the wrist watch as the most popular time piece. Most people only wear a wrist watch as a fashion statement, using a mobile device when they want to know what time it is. Another clothing accessory that is soon to go out of style is the wallet. Already people carry the pictures of their loved ones in their mobile devices and exchange electronic business cards via the phone. Near Field Communications will allow your cell phone to replace your credit or debit card and it is very possible to live a cashless life.

Not only will replacing a wallet improve the convenience of shopping, it will probably improve your posture if you are a man, since you won’t be sitting on that fat wallet and twisting your spine.

hehe! My wallet was my shirt pocket or my waist bag. I used my wallet wallet very seldomly because it always got too thick with coins that I keep forgetting to use :-)

I agree NFC I agree NFC will certainly change much of our current habits in regard to payments but I think this may well be the tip of the iceberg and we can imagine new methods of distribution and interaction with spaces which will also be enabled.

I dont tend to like descriptions such as disruptive technologies but I certainly believe NFC could well be one of those.

PS Nokia must pay better than academia if you have such a fat wallet ;)

Nokia Ron Ah for the fat wallet , I'm afraid it is full of one dollar bills, pictures and plastic cards. I'm trying to get those old pictures on the phone that will help some. At least I have the newer photos there.

Hi folks - first time here - from Canada. I need the help of someone to figure out a challenge for me. I'm not a computer-person but I like to learn what my old head can manage. Have the 6275i that I've added a 2 GB microSD card to. What I want to do with this extra memory is to use it so that I can record longer phone calls than just three minutes (which it can do now). So, I guess, I want my 6275i to be able to record directly to the card memory and not to the existing small internal memory. Anyone up for a challenge? I think, a new little software program to re-route the way its memory operates may be the solution. It's a great phone. Help!
