Do We Have Time

Nokia Ron | 01 October, 2007 19:23

I don’t know about you, but I never seem to have enough time and I often feel like I am wasting time that I should be doing something. I took a time management course a few years ago and recently revisited the materials and found I had fallen back into my same old bad habits. One habit that clutters your life and makes you feel like you are wasting time is the “I’ll never do” things.

The “I’ll never do” things are the little odd jobs like cleaning the garage or basement. At business they may be reading a paper written that was of some interest to you or going through all that old e-mail and sorting it and tossing out what is un-important. The trick to handling these is to just realize you are never ever going to get to them, so just ignore them and do what is most important. Take those hundreds of e-mails that did not require any action and create a dump bin folder and put them there. Wow your in box has 3 or 4 things now, not a hundred; you can do those 3 or 4 things.   If your garage is a mess, either accept it or hire the neighborhood kid to do it.

The nicest thing is you don’t feel like you are being pushed to get things done the pressure is off and you accomplish more. Life is much simpler when you learn to just ignore the work that will never get done.

kiran10182 Hi Ron,

I have been thinking to write a blog which is more related to yours. Anyways i do not find enough time to write it. ;) But i will, of course, very soon.

One of my friends asked me that why don't you come on Orkut http://www.orkut.com. I replied him, i do not find time from Discussion boards and Wiki to come on Orkut. Now Forum Nokia Blog would be another reason not to be online on Orkut. ;)

Kiran.

krtrivdi Kiran,

I use orkut scraps to move students from orkut to FN DiBo. After last two events at my university, many students from various colleges added me as friend in orkut and started asking newbie questions on mobile application development. I directly guided them to jump to forum nokia for every solution. And surprisingly one of the student came to me and told me "Sir, I could have reach to a very high stage in a very short time, if I could have been a part of FN earlier" I told him 'later is better than never'. Now I noticed that many new entries have come to FN and actively participating in discussions. Those students are active in community have also stopped calling their friends in college by their name but by their FN user name..!

Kiran, I am very much happy n feel proud that I could make Forum Nokia very popular in various colleges of our state Gujarat.

balagopalks Me too was wondering how days are going so fast and I am feeling like am not working hard. I was travelling for the last couple of weeks and not sure whether some one has noticed that am away from FN DiBos. DiBos is one of my favourite hangout place and I have to find out how to manage time to be back in DiBos.

Not even DiBos, but I was totally away from WIKI as well as from Blogs! Seems like me too have to do a time management course some time soon.

I can hire the kid in my neighbourhood to clear the garbage, but as a compensation he wants to play his favourite games in S60 Emulator. (I mean how user friendly Nokia emulators are ! ) He complains that his DAD wont allow him to play games in his 7610.

And for those who are into Orkut, there is a community for Forum Nokia - Feel free to join http://www.orkut.com/Community.aspx?cmm=27972736

Regards
Gopal
