Working With Professional Camera's VS Nokia Symbian Phones

Working with professional cameras is a totally different situation to working with the NSeries devices. I have to say, with good lighting I much prefer working with the mobile phone. With the embeded video editor, I can get data up on the 360Fashion platform much faster than the pro cameras. The process is so much longer with the pro cameras...importing, editing, exporting. In the last 7 years of mobile reporting I have developed a distinct 360Fashion style of shooting with mobile devices, methodology, and techniques in order to edit on the fly and post the data up to the web in a rapid fire way. This gives a live experience to the web viewers and allows for a edited "streamed" experience. Editing in the phone is great because after an event, on the way home by metro you can use up your time to create new clips. I'm disappointed that Nokia removed the MUVEE movie editor, it was a great way to create "preview" clips because the MUVEE phone editor auto-edited the clips in several different algorythms. I called the editing and then re-editing and even 4x editing MUVEE clip after clip "spontaneos cumbustion", and effect that overloads the phone system and creates mobile art through the breakdown of the mobile media. This spontaneous combustion of the digital data created beautiful pattern color effects, strange morphed rythms, and a distinct artistic style created by the phone itself that one could never come up with in the computer using final cut pro or aftereffects. One cannot plan for it, one can only select the most pleasing result. The phone, gernerated the art itself. Unfortunately all the test that I have made, contrary to what Nokia say about the Nseries being broadcast quality, I have never been successful in getting a satellight broadcast station to air the footage I have created. Most of you know that I have been mobile reporting since 2002, when I had to crack the phone open to get the videos out because there were no tools. Luckily with the new open mentality, the day and age has evolved to create a streamlined mobile content creation tool that now coupled with the OVI platform could give me finally the platform to create my Anina Dress Up mobile television show. Until then, I'm stuck with the lightest hand held pro camera to film for tv, however I find it clunky and difficult to get the same look and style to my shooting with my N95. Each tool has it's own abilities. I like experimenting with them all, but after, I make everyone shoot it all again quickly with my mobile for 360FashionTV. Here I am training my HD video camera man to shoot with my mobile perspective angles and style. When Nokia launched LIFEBLOG thanks to Charlie in 2005 it was a revolution for me--finally I could get the data up on the web with my mobile phone in a great user interface way. I tought 32 non-technical people to use lifeblog with great pleasure and many technophobic people loved the LIFEBLOG application that worked across all sixapart platforms. Now with the cancellation of LIFEBLOG, and the Nokia Share 3.0's exclusion of 3rd party websites, I feel Nokia's position in mobile blogging has been severely weakened. Of course the Nokia Share team tell me, "But you can blog to OVI". Not with the kind of data I have to upload with hour long interviews and video files that weigh well over 200mb with the OVI 100 mb limit. Also posting to Typepad and Movable type is a disappointing experience now because of the cancellation of LIFEBLOG, as the sixapart symbian mobile application for typepad is rudimentary, and despite my direct contact with the Mobile department at sixapart, I have been unable to even get the application working. It refuses to see all my blog accounts since the last upgrade of sixapart. Aslo I find that, like many American companies who cannot imagine that anyone would travel outside the USA, sixapart doesn't name anymore the jpg files that are uploaded by email to their platform in a way that google can search them (my nicely named-thanks to Nokia phone-images called "china-fashion-week_2009.jpg" end up being called "x2140u50975093585-958-95903753476-314pi". Tell me how google will associate that image with china fashion week?). The support say "you can add alt files to help google". Yes, only from the web, not from the mobile application (which doesnt work) or the email to blog. The LIFEBLOG application was brilliant interface also compared to the Nokia Share text based one, the timeline, the gps auto entered information thanks to triangulation, the tags, and the little comments you could write next to the photo that would display under the photo next to the big body text, made for a great "editor" formatting experience afterwards on the blog. You have to work with what you have, and if MUVEE would sell their mobile video application I'd pay for it if it could handle my 100mb video files. It would have to be built software for the phone as robust as the EDIT features inside the symbian system. Its one reason I still love the N93...great video quality, still had LIFEBLOG, and wifi. What a perfect combination!

Tremendous databases, wireless communications and the miniaturization of electronics provide opportunities to make major changes in the way people work and live. The Transformation Age explores the office, the marketplace, media, finances and our digital lives as they take new forms and remove the barriers of time, distance, wealth, education and even age.
THE OFFICE
The way an office looks and operates has changed dramatically in the past 50 years, and information technology - for better or for worse - has made a lot of those changes possible. Offices contain people who oversee or design products and services, market them and handle finances. I.T. continues to reduce the role of people in some of these functions while simultaneously reducing the importance of location. Anina Trepte is a high tech globe-trotting fashion model who practically runs her 360 Fashion company and web site with her cell phones.

It is a channel for consumers to discover local brands and new designers ahead of the curve.

Download the Game here to your phone: http://mobi.aninadressup.com

The primary goal of the application is to give local fashion brands global visibility in the palm of clients’ hands, and lead to new talent discovery for buyers and journalists. To create a game geared toward the fashionable, from the insiders’ global perspective.

Participating designers are London’s, ELEYKISHIMOTO, New York’s Chesley McLaren, Holland’s Jolina Jolink, Daryl van Wouw, BLUEBLOOD, Jan Taminiau, DFF’s Conny Groenewegen, China’s Zebra Woods accessories, and Belgian designer Anja Austa. Zebra Woods and Anja Austa have both designed phone jewelry inspired by the game.

Its innovative user experience: it has an offline mode memory game where the players have to recreate the outfit shown to them under one minute. It has an offline free mode where players can mix and match their own outfits in their own time, with an online component for downloading new outfits to anina’s closet. When the player has finished making their own outfit combination in the phone, they can send the data via GPRS to an online gallery. In the online gallery, the public can vote and comment on the outfits.

Innovative technology is at the core of ANINA DRESS UP and is based on the following combination: Flash Lite by Adobe Corporation, collaboration with i2 tecnologia from Brazil, and anina.net’s interactive media approach.
Teknomalli Anina -- INNOVA MAGAZINE

This month if you are in Finland, stop into your local magazine store and pick up a copy of INNOVA MAGAZINE. Innova has written an article about me and the 360Fashion network. i would love to know what is says, but it's totaly in Finnish.

if you cant see this animation click here, it's cool!

i am always doing my best to bring technology into the fashion magazine space and to use my name and image to make technology glamorous. i hope in this way that other girls will see the value proposition of the mobile, and begin using internet, video, and other mobile services. currently it makes me really frustrated when i talk to my model friends who are not from western countries, but from Latvia, Poland, Ukrain, Russia, Brazil, Columbia, and other emerging places, and i hear them say that they don't need the internet. that they dont need internet on their mobile phones. that they are not interested to study web design, or computers.

they say that they don't need it for their future. they say email is great and that they have computers everywhere where they can browse the web. why should they pay for mobile internet (also, most of the time they have pre-paid phone cards so they would not be able to do it anyway). they ask me why they should use their mobile phones for anything other than to make phone calls and send sms.

i think the main reason for this is because on operator portals, there is only sex, sports, cars, and male dominated services available and nothing suitable for women. they go there once, don't find anything that appeals to them--no value proposition--and they don't come back. i think this lack of interest is also because there are not strong female role-models. i think it's because games too are shoot up and violent, or too frilly-silly-simple for interesting play. i think it's because there are not enough women designing services, or games/applications to suite women.

i hope to change this by creating applications and services that will motivate women to give the phone a wider application for women beyond just phoning and texting. i work to change this lack of interest also by using my influence--showing how i use mobile internet and how it helps me do business faster, on an international level, and communicate better. i am always looking for 3rd party mobile companies to create games that are compelling for girls, and though 360Fashion Network's strong role models of Vivianne Blassel, Diane Pernet, Iris Brosch, Rebekah Roy, and Susie Hollands to appeal to a wide array of women in all age demographics. i do this also by speaking out in articles such as the one in INNOVA magazine, and i see the results of my influence when i receive a lot of emails from women saying tney never knew you could do so much with a phone or use it in these additional ways. i reach out to non-technical people and influence/motivate them to surmount the their techno-disappointment / phobia, to give the mobile another try. i am very happy when fashion magazines find interest in me and write about what i am doing because it also gets them thinking about how they can bring more technology into their traditional media space.

if anyone can tell me what the article says though, that would be great!

360Fashoin Shopping Map of Fashion

360Fashion announce the first trials in Location Based Services, by creating a 360Fashion Map of Fashion with Pikeo, a photo sharing platform by Orange.

360Fashion uploaded photos during the past A/W 2008 Fashion Shows in LONDON, MILAN, PARIS, AMSTERDAM.
Zoom in and out of the map, or click on the photo albums to see where the event or designers are located. search out the sample map photo locations and events on the map. sign up and submit your own photos geo-located with pikeo tags of WHO, WHAT, WHERE. if the tags are the same on two accounts, and the members are friends, then they can share eachother's photos geo-located on eachother's maps. it's a very nice feature of pikeo.

Copyright protection is a fierce topic in the fashion industry, and the laws surrounding the photo rights and creation rights intense. Style.com are under attack from the Federation de la Couture in Paris, France. The importance of working with FASHION PROFESSIONALS is more needed than ever. Internet speed is bringing the collections to the public before going into manufacturing. This is allowing copy cat cheap production and unethical labor counterfiet pieces to be produced.

360Fashion Shopping solves these issues by not releasing the photos before they are present in the stores, unless we have permission from the authorised 360Fashion photographer, who has obtained written permission from the Designers.

360Fashion consulted with the Federation de la Couture to understand the concerns of the Federation, and 360Fashion consulted with photographers in LONDON, MILAN, PARIS, and AMSTERDAM, to understand the photographer's side of the story. anina.net has in mind several technological solutions to the problem that creates a win - win situation for Designers, Federation, Photographers, and 360Fashion mobile reporters. 360Fashion demo'd the mobile 360Fashion magazine to the head of the Federation, and showcased the web technology of Pikeo. anina.net recorded all the feedback from the Federation, in order to understand how technology could solve the problem.

stay tuned for the technological soloution created by 360Fashion in responce to these issues.

Working with knowlegeable FASHOIN PROFESSIONALS, understanding the protocol in the PR and COMMUNICATION meathods, permission agreements, and that have the personal trust of the Designers is essential to a successful web 2.0 and mobile execution.

anina.net worked together with Nokia Widsets in order to create a rich, interactive, multimedia experience in your phone: photos, text, and commenting. it was modeled after my 360Fashion flash lite reader that i launched a year ago at 3GSM together with adobe.

The second concpet around 360Fashion in your phone, was to create a widset that was distinctively different to the other widsets in the library, in order to push the boundaries of design, in order to inspire other brands to see what is possible. While others are creating widsets that are square, 360Fashion worked with shading, transparancy, and innovation in order to come up with the final design.

Here are some other version shapes and forms to inspire you:

  this one is for christmas!

this was the first try...the 360Fashion was waaaaaay to small.

READING WITH MULTIMEDIA INTERACTIVE WIDSET

reading with the widset is really nice. the font ajusts itself to the size of the phone. you can have your widset on multiple phones, but not using them all at the same time. it's like windows...you have to close one to open the software on a new device.

THE STANDARD WIDSETS FROM THE STUDIO SECTION

these widsets unlike the one above which was hand crafted, are easy to make and standard. you just prepare your graphics and off you go! there's no customization possible really, but their interface is clean and clear:

it still has all the multimedia functions of the 360Fashion widset.

i will post more photos here and more explanation. for the time being, uploading all those photos and stuff took me more than 4 hours of work. oof! i hope you like the colorful post though!

all artwork was done by FARLEY BRIAN, from KURST.CO.UK (the creators of the 360Fashion website).

please download and test out the 360Fashion widset and email me to let me know what you think!

thank you for your support!

TYPEPAD/LIFEBLOG PROBLEMS

for the past 6 months i have constantly been posting to the sixapart tech support, that from the mobile perspective, there are problems with posting from the phone. their servers do not let the lifeblog application know that the posting is complete. so when i am running around only mobile and posting, i get ALL THE TIME,

SERVER ERROS, PLEASE TRY AGAIN

so i try again and try again, and that's why on my blog i have 12 posts of IN STYLE TAN article.

i hope they can get it fixed. LIFEBLOG is the BEST MOBLOGGING SOFTWARE on the market. it's the most INCREDIBLE TOOL and TYPEPAD is the top hosted blogging tool on the market. i wish that nokia would help them solve the problem since it reflects on the LIFEBLOG credibility.

NOKIA 3G FASHION PHONE!

Nokia - LAUNCH OF 3G PHONE.

Building upon the success of last year's highly popular L'Amour Collection, Nokia has unveiled three new mobile phones to meet the growing demand by stylish consumers the world over. From the elegantly iconic Nokia 7390, Nokia's first 3G fashion phone

APPLE and NOKIA

i have always loved the apple tools such as imovie, quicktime pro, and garage band. apple has gone out of their way to include the mobile platforms in their tools. you can export from imovie to 3gp, from quicktime pro to amr/3gp. the file formats all work seamlessly in and out.

the problem has always been that it is universally known that apple and nokia do not work together.

if you want to send your information to the mac, you have to tiediously, one by one, bluetooth each file. it is so time consuming. not to mention if you want to then transfer the information BACK to the nokia phone. the information is bluetoothed to the phone and arrives in your messages inbox. this can lead to big problems if your file is big and your phone has a small memory space on the phone brain side.
i have recently got a mac book pro,

YOU CANNOT SEE THE LIFEBLOG VIDEO ON THIS SERVER BECAUSE THE BLOG PLATFORM DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO USE JAVASCRIPT. PLEASE VIEW MY BLOG TO SEE THE VIDEO: CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO

and it really is the dream machine. windows never looked so good! i have tested that all the nokia programs i use on forum nokia work on the xp running bootcamp on apple.

however, on the mac os side i still am unable to browse the files on my nokia n70.
apple invited me to their offices in germany for training when they heard i was still not satisfied with the mac. i was very happy to learn about garage band, imovie, iweb, idvd, etc. they are great programs. however a few questions remained that i asked them to solve: how to network a mac and pc together, how to use my n70 as a modem for the mac book pro, how to browse the nokia phone via bluetooth.

with 4 technicians and 6 hours they were able to teach me how to do everything, after figuring it out for themselves, EXCEPT browse the n70 device. we were able to browse the n80 device that i had on loan to test out.

i decided to investigate further, so when i arrived to london i went to the genious bar at the apple store and arranged to have a genii who is possibly the one and only nokia user at apple. i showed him the problem:

YOU CANT SEE THIS VPOD OR YOURTUBE VIDEO ON THIS SERVER BECAUSE THE BLOG PLATFORM DOES NOT ALLOW ME TO USE JAVASCRIPT. PLEASE VIEW MY BLOG TO SEE THE VIDEO: CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO

apple bluetooth's "browse device" connects to the nokia phone (this is proved by the bluetooth connect symbol appearing on the nokia phone, the isynch working on the apple side, and the ability to send a file to the phone). however, on the apple side, the browse device box shows no file structure on the phone. it shows a (backslash) and no files or file structure of the phone.

we tested again all the phones that i had tried: n70, 6630, 7610, which all were not able to be browsed. we tested the n80 which worked perfectly and showed the whole file structure of the phone, the files of the C & D drives. we tested the 9300, which showed the C & D drives along with it's files. we tested the 7380 which showed the drives and files.

we started a case file and i called apple to escalate the issue internally and was contacted by the head of europe and put in touch with their mobile technical expert a few days later. we tested again all the devices, and he tested them independently of my devices and found the exact same results.

however, he came to the conclusion that the problem did not lie on the apple side (because the device WAS connected to the computer). he said the problem lay on the side of the symbian platform. that either:

-the device file folders were protected, and unable to be viewed by the mac

-the computer was not being delivered to the root directory (being lead to the incorrect place on the phone)

he came to the same conclusion that i came to: that the problem was only with s60 second edition phones. he said that something must have been changed with the s60 3rd edition because n80's work seamlessly (unfortunately i dont have any s60 3rd edition devices and no one in my project has a s60 3rd edition device).
so wheather the problem lies on the side of symbian or on the side of s60, has yet to be determined. wheather it is a bug, or mearly functionality that was left out, has yet to be determined. wheather a patch needs to be created or an update coded has yet to be determined.

one thing is for sure: this "problem" or lack of functionality is messing up my 360Fashion project in a big way. the fashion industry is primarily dominated by creatives who use apple computers. i have constantly heard the response from my collegues and associates saying, "i would love to have a nokia, but it doesnt work with my mac".

they all own sony ericssons. which work seamlessly with apple computers. sony has created even creative tools and software that works on the mac side. perhaps that is one of the contributing factors to why motorola and sony ericsson dominate the fashion and entertainment industries.

clearly this is hurting BOTH apple and nokia, as the nseries devices and the s60 platform are indeed the superior creative tools of my choice.

when i have talked to nokia about this problem i get answers saying they are mainly focused on the windows majority market share. when i have raised this problem to nokia the people i talk to say they cannot test because they do not have a mac.
i wish that i could get this problem solved as it is a huge hurtle for me in my 360fashion network. if you want the primarily non-technical community to begin to create with mobile devices, then you must make it easy for them to use the superior creative tools--which indeed are present on the mac.

i am now sounding the alarm and raising this issue in hopes that i can get this problem solved. can anybody help?

ps...if you view this post on my blog the formatting is much better.
