Can you connect a USB cellular data modem to N810??? That would be so hot if we could add a 3G (or at least GPRS or EDGE) connectivity to Nokia N810 - that'd be an ideal device. maybe we could use regular Linux drivers supplied with data modem?

I am a photojournalist using Canon cameras (30D, 40D etc.). I would like to leave my laptop at home but upload photos rapidly from the field - connecting my camera to a smart phone with maximum band support sounds great to me :-D

Is the Nokia N810 or some other Nokia phone waht I need? I guess the necessary feature is either a USB host or a USB OTG, right?

Any other remarks or recommendations?

I'm trying to upgrade my N800 via my linux desktop (ubuntu feisty), and the flasher is dumping me back to the shell prompt without doing anything.

Setting the host throw the xterm works great...USB device works fine...although have noticed a bit of a lag when transmitting data. Does anyone know how much power the USB port on the N810 can support....i am guessing it wont be the 500mA a normal port can handle....also does anyone know how to resort back to device mode? Nice to be able to have both options....i know a cable would resolve....

Another option is to just order a cable from pacific geek. Shipping is more than the cable. Mine came to shipped ~ $15 USD. You'll still need a gender changer, but you won't have to pull out the soldering iron or fire up xterm. N810 recognize my 250GB hard drive (externally powered) with no problems.

It works similar way on n800 running os2008.

You can also use more power hungry device by placing powered USB hub in between.
